Sandy Martin
Executive Director of Young in Arts; Director of Youth Handbells
and the Children's Choir
Sandy Martin
has been on the Fine Arts staff since 1977. Her first responsibility was
Handbells. She developed a Handbell program that includes 8 handbell choirs for
children, youth, collegians and adults. Sandy hosted two
"Masteringers" Festivals, an internationally renowned festival which
brought together five of the area's most accomplished ensembles. She has served
on the board of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Area II. Sandy
also directed the Carol Choir, the first choral experience for children in
Kindergarten and First Grade.
In 1994 Sandy was named Executive Director of Young-in-Arts, a
music, creative movement and art enrichment school for children ages 0-5. She
supervises a staff of ten gifted teachers and also teaches in the program.
In her spare time, Sandy is a member of BMPC's Senior Choir and
Singing City. Her hobbies include antiques and interior decorating.
