Fine Arts Program Mission Statement
God is at the center of all that we do. The act of worshiping God is the most important response we make.

Presbyterian Church, the Nelly Berman

of varied repertoire for piano, organ,
and voice. Performers include BMPC's own

who have heard them. Now you will have

public. An offering will be received.
Visit from Civil Rights Legend Gwen
Appling
On
Saturday-Sunday, February 25-26, Civil
Rights legend Gwen Appling will be in
residence at BMPC. Gwen is one of the
stars of the Academy Award winning film,
The Children's March,
which tells the story of
how the young people of Birmingham,
Alabama, braved fire hoses and police
dogs in 1963 and brought segregation to
its knees. Their heroism complements
discussions about the ability of today's
young people to be catalysts for
positive social change.
On Sunday,
February 19, at 11:15, you will have the
opportunity to screen
The Children's March (40
minutes).
On
Saturday, February 25, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
the Youth Family Ministries, and Fine
Arts departments will co-sponsor a
special event for children, youth and
their families, featuring a 2nd
screening of
The Children's March and the
opportunity to interact with Gwen.
On Sunday,
February 26, at 11:15, Gwen will be with
us to discuss the film and how we might
be involved in making a difference in
people's lives.
Also on
Sunday, February 26, we are offering a
soul-food luncheon at 12:00 followed by
a 2:00 p.m. a concert of music related
to the Civil Rights Movement. Tickets
for the luncheon must be purchased in
advance ($10 for adults, $5 for children
18 and under). Contact
Stephanie to purchase. The concert
will be free to the public. An offering
will be received.
